YOUR HANDY GUIDE TO THE MUST DO ATTRACTIONS

Christchurch Must Do’s attractions are located within an easy distance to each other. Christchurch Adventure Park, Willowbank Wildlife Reserve and International Antarctic are located in Christchurch – 20 minutes’ drive from the central city and Black Cat Cruises operate from the picturesque town of Akaroa, which is 90 minutes from central Christchurch.

HOW TO GET TO EACH ATTRACTION

Christchurch Adventure Park

ADDRESS: Christchurch Adventure Park, 50 McVicar Drive, Cashmere, Christchurch, Canterbury

GETTING THERE:

By Car – There are over 500 car parks at the Adventure Park, but car-pooling or riding to the park is always great. Take care when driving into the park as there will be riders and pedestrians

By Public Transport – The closest bus stop to the Christchurch Adventure Park is at 349 Hoon Hay Rd, Cashmere. It is approximately a 30 minute walk from this bus stop to the Park. This stop is on the Orbiter bus route, which operates between 6:16am and 10:39pm on weekdays. You can plan in your route here

By Bike - Christchurch is a bike friendly city with bike lanes and a relatively flat landscape. With limited parking onsite, riding to the park is recommended where possible. It is law in New Zealand that helmets are worn whenever riding which includes the Adventure Park. Check out the cycle routes around the city and plan your roue accordingly

Black Cat Cruises

ADDRESS: Black Cat Cruises, Main Wharf, Akaroa

GETTING THERE:

By Car – Akaroa is located only 90 minutes drive away from Christchurch. You get a chance to enjoy the scenic drive from Christchurch. We suggest a stop in Little River where you can grab a coffee, stretch your legs and look at local art galleries.

By Public TransportAkaroa French Connection is a reliable bus company that provides daily shuttle services to Akaroa. Bus departs at 9am from Christchurch and connects to our afternoon cruise. Departure from Akaroa is 4pm, which leaves you some time to enjoy picturesque Akaroa township before heading back to Christchurch

Willowbank Wildlife Reserve

ADDRESS: Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, 60 Hussey Road, Harewood

GETTING THERE:

By Shuttle - We’ve teamed up with Willowbank Wildlife Reserve for a hassle-free, cost-effective daily shuttle between Cathedral Square and our iconic attractions. Tickets are $15 per person for the full circuit, and kids under 5 ride free.
Pre-booking aren’t required.

By Car – Willowbank is well sign posted, please use the map here for directions.

Willowbank has a free off-street parking with a 100-110 space car park. There are four accessible car parks close to the main building for vehicles displaying a current mobility parking permit

By Public Transport – Public bus number 107 stops outside Willowbank and can be caught from Northlands Shopping Mall in Papanui. Save the hassle of finding a park on a busy day and catch a bus – do your bit for the environment!

By Bike - Feel like some exercise or live locally? Consider cycling to Willowbank. There is a bike stand for your use right at the entrance.

LOCAL TIP: Willowbank Wildlife Reserve just short 7 minute’s drive from International Antarctic centre. You can either drive or take a shuttle to get from Antarctic Centre to Willowbank

International Antarctic Centre

ADDRESS: International Antarctic Centre, 38 Orchard Road, Christchurch Airport

GETTING THERE:

By Car – if you have a car, International Antarctic Centre is juts 15 minutes’ drive from the city centre. There is free parking on site. More details on how to get there.

By Public Transport – No. 8 bus stops right outside the International Antarctic Centre or the No. 29 bus is only a short walk away. You can find timetables and more details at Metro.

LOCAL TIP: International Antarctic Centre is located 10 minutes walking distance from the airport
